# HB Code and Conductor

> HB Code and Conductor side by side: price, platforms, agents, sign-in, workspaces, and phone access. Conductor facts come from its maker's own pages.

Conductor is a Mac app that runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and OpenCode in parallel, in local workspaces on your Mac or in cloud workspaces. HB Code is a desktop app for Mac and Windows by helpful bits GmbH. It runs Claude Code and Codex on your own computer, and its iPhone and Android apps open the same sessions.

## The main difference

Conductor gives each workspace its own git worktree and branch, and on paid plans it runs agents in cloud workspaces. HB Code runs the agent in your project folder on your own computer. It creates no worktrees and has no cloud.

Conductor's iOS app works with cloud workspaces. The HB Code apps for iPhone and Android open the sessions that run on your own Mac or PC.

Conductor is available for macOS. HB Code runs on Macs with Apple silicon and on Windows PCs.

## Side by side

| Topic | HB Code | Conductor |
| --- | --- | --- |
| License and source | Not open source. The source isn't public. | Not described in the sources below. |
| Price | The desktop app needs no payment. A phone gets a 10-day connected preview and then needs HB Code Pro from the App Store or Google Play. | Free: $0, with local workspaces on your Mac. Pro: $50 per month, with Conductor Cloud, multiplayer, the Conductor API, and the mobile app. Teams: $60 per user per month, invite-only. |
| Desktop | macOS 12 or later on Apple silicon, and Windows 10 version 1809 or later on x64. No Linux app. | macOS. The maker states that it isn't available for Windows or Linux yet. |
| Phone and web | iPhone with iOS 18 or later and Android 8.0 or later. No web app. | An iOS app that works with cloud workspaces. The pricing page lists the mobile app under Pro. |
| Coding agents | Claude Code and Codex. | Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and OpenCode. |
| Agent sign-in and billing | Claude Code is the unchanged executable of Anthropic's Claude Agent SDK. Codex is HB Code's own build of OpenAI's open-source Codex app-server. Both run on your own Claude and ChatGPT sign-in, and HB Code includes neither plan. | It comes with its own installation of Claude Code and Codex and uses the auth tokens saved on your machine. The maker states that it doesn't bill or resell model usage. |
| Account with the maker | None for work on the desktop. Remote access and the phone apps need an HB Code account. | Cloud workspaces need a sign-in to the Mac app and an organization. You also need GitHub and at least one agent provider. |
| Where the agent works | In your project folders on your own computer. HB Code creates no worktrees and lists the ones that the repository has. No cloud. | Local workspaces run on your Mac, each in its own git worktree, without a sandbox. Cloud workspaces on paid plans run in Linux sandboxes hosted by Vercel. |
| How the phone reaches the desktop | Through HB Code's relay server over TLS. The connection isn't end-to-end encrypted. The server passes the content and doesn't store it. | The iOS app works with cloud workspaces. The maker states that chat messages sent in cloud workspaces are stored on its servers and that the data it stores is encrypted. |
| Accounts and usage limits | Several Claude accounts and ChatGPT subscriptions. Settings › Agents lists each one with its limit windows, and the phone apps show the same windows. | Not described in the sources below. |
| Usage analytics in the app | No analytics or crash-report SDK in the desktop app or the phone apps. The desktop app sends one daily usage signal, with a random ID not linked to your account, only if you allow it. With remote access on, the server keeps device status data. | Analytics in PostHog: which features you use, crash logs, and data about your computer such as the operating system and IP address. |
